I never considered myself to be a photographer. I still don’t. But I can tell you that I feel my best when I have a camera in my hands. I love the ability to capture and emotion through light, shadows, and colours, and immortalise it all in a single frame. It’s a story I can share with the rest of the world for those who care to listen. Or just a snapshot memory of the adventures I’ve had throughout my life.
The relatively small but passionate climbing community in my home city of Toronto has really opened my eyes to a whole new perspective. Capturing such naked emotions becomes addictive. At these moments, I’m completely unaware of the fact that I’m dangling on ropes off the side of a cliff face in the middle of a vast landscape. It’s just me and the climber. I’m so focused on the moment that it’s almost like their emotions become my own. Fear, anger, perseverance, joy. All immortalised click after click.
